Yay! Weekend! If you're reading this, it's almost time to switch off your anxiety brain and lean into two days of regenerating yourself for next week. Here's a mix of good news and interesting reads to help you finish the week well:
“Protecting New Yorkers from climate change is not optional.” Earlier this week, The Climate Mobilization Act was passed in New York City. Also, it's projected that India will overachieve its Paris Agreement targets by 60%! Can confirm, is delicious: 5-second vegan parmesan sprinkle recipe. Okay, maybe it was just a humblebrag, but I really liked Katy Perry for the caption on this instagram post. Things to hunt up at the library this weekend: I've been reading The How Not To Die Cookbook by Dr Michael Greger, a followup to his bestselling book How Not To Die. Whole-food plant-based recipes that look DELICIOUS: I plan to make the french toast, mac'n'cheese, black bean burgers and buffalo cauliflower with ranch dressing. Do not read while hangry. Also What Do We Want? The Story of Protest in Australia charts some of Australia's biggest social movements - anti-Vietnam war, women's liberation, indigenous rights - with narrative, quotes and historical photographs showing how some of the norms we now take for granted were hard-won by disruptive social action and normal people putting themselves on the line. So interesting and I AM LOVING IT. This was just a really delightful read about a parenting fail. (Well, is it a fail if it just makes you like your kid more?) Adorable cow friends. This week I've had a very dear friend visiting from interstate, and when she goes my little brother will be here for a few days! I'm super excited to spend time with them both and also conscious of the need for extra self-care and alone time (intense introvert over here). I hit the gym for ONE extra session this week and I'm amazed by the positive impact it had on my mental health. So...move your bodies this weekend, lovelies. xx Kamina
